TRAINING
Central Valley Biblical Counseling has developed a comprehensive, three-phase training program based on the certification process of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
Phase 1: 30-hour fundamentals course, 10 hours of counseling observation, and 1,000 pages of reading.
Phase 2: Take-home exams and evaluations.
Phase 3: 50 hours of supervised counseling.

ACBC Phase 1: Learning
Fundamentals Training
Central Valley Biblical Counseling is excited to announce our 2026 Spring fundamentals training! If you are interested in counseling training or if you attended our annual conference in November, this is an excellent opportunity to begin the training and certification process. Topics will include "The Need, Definition, and Goal of Biblical Counseling," "Getting to Heart Issues," "Providing Instruction," "God's Purpose for Marriage," Biblical Sexuality, "Biblical Parenting," and "Depression."
We are offering four Saturday sessions at Grace Church of the Valley (1101 Marion St., Kingsburg, CA 93631) for a total of 32 hours of training. These will be intensive and edifying days, with eight sessions of teaching each. The dates are January 24, February 21, March 21, and April 18. Doors will open at 7:30 am and the first session will start at 8:00 am. Each day will conclude by 6:00 pm.
This training satisfies the fundamentals requirement for counseling certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). It also serves as a thorough discipleship course for any believer who wants to delve deeper and grow in spiritual maturity! Snacks and coffee will be provided, as well as a break for participants to have lunch off-campus. If you are unable to attend one of the Saturdays, recordings will be available. However, to receive your ACBC fundamentals completion certificate, you must attend at least three of the four Saturdays in person.
Phase 1 Cohort (Reading, Observations, Discussion)
Our next Phase 1 Cohort will meet on the second Monday of every month, 6:30–8:30 pm, beginning in late Spring. You can complete your required reading and observation hours in 6 months! Sign up for our email list for future training opportunities!
Monthly Exam Class (Tutoring, Grading, and Review)
Our exam class meets on the second Monday of every month, year-round, 6:30–8:30 pm. You can join anytime and complete the ACBC Exams in one year!
ACBC Phase 2: Exams and Evaluations
Connections with ACBC Fellows, Coaching, and Case Report Assistance
We can help you develop a relationship with an ACBC Fellow, offer coaching for difficult counseling situations, and assist with the phase 3 case report process.
ACBC Phase 3: Supervision
Advanced Classes, Coaching, and Resourcing
We offer our annual conference, advanced training classes, ongoing counseling coaching, and an extensive library of recommended counseling resources.
